Hello, dear readers!
Welcome back to my blog, where I share my thoughts on life, happiness, and everything in between.
In the last blog, I wrote about how happiness can be induced in one’s life by sharing feelings and stuff with people.
Well, let me in you on a secret.
This trick might be useful for almost all of the people.
Even the most introverted people too.
Don’t agree with me?
Read on and let me know in the comments what do you think.
Why You Should Choose Your Interactions Wisely
Human beings are social animals.
Being this kind of animals, we require constant input and output in terms of our interaction with other people.
The nature of this interaction can be wide-ranging.
From monetary interaction to basic interaction such as sharing gossips.
Whatever the reason or nature of this interaction between humans is, its result depends on the nature.
If it is of a good nature, then it will introduce positive emotions.
For example, an outing with friends will generally introduce emotions of euphoria in the human being.
(Unless you have a beef with your friends, then this outing will only cause you further pain)
If the interaction is of ill nature, it will introduce negative emotions.
For example, seeing you toxic Ex randomly will flag your mind with remnants of past experience that will probably send you down a bad memory trip.
So, in a nutshell, interactions are necessary.
But making sure that these interactions are good is of utmost importance as these interactions will disturb your peace.
How to Identify Good and Bad Interactions
Now, you might be wondering:
How do I know if an interaction is good or bad for me?
Well, there's no definitive answer to that question, as different people may have different preferences and expectations from their interactions.
But here are some general guidelines that might help you:
- A good interaction is one that makes you feel happy, relaxed, energized, inspired, or any other positive emotion.
- A bad interaction is one that makes you feel sad, angry, stressed, bored, or any other negative emotion.
- A good interaction is one that respects your values, beliefs, opinions, and feelings.
- A bad interaction is one that violates your values, beliefs, opinions, and feelings.
- A good interaction is one that supports your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
- A bad interaction is one that hinders your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
- A good interaction is one that enriches your knowledge, skills, and experiences.
- A bad interaction is one that diminishes your knowledge, skills, and experiences.
How to Avoid Bad Interactions
Once you have identified the good and bad interactions in your life, the next step is to avoid the bad ones as much as possible.
This may sound simple, but it can be quite challenging in practice.
Here are some tips that might help you:
- Be selective about who you interact with
Don't waste your time and energy on people who don't add value to your life or who bring negativity to your life.
Choose to interact with people who share your interests, values, and goals or who inspire you to grow and improve yourself.
- Be assertive about your needs and wants
Don't let others dictate how you should interact with them or what you should do for them.
Express your preferences and expectations clearly and respectfully.
Don't be afraid to say no to requests or invitations that don't align with your peace.
- Be mindful about your environment
Don't expose yourself to situations or places that trigger bad interactions or emotions in you.
Avoid unnecessary conflicts or dramas that drain your energy and peace.
Seek out environments that foster good interactions or emotions in you.
- Be proactive about your well-being
Don't let bad interactions affect your mood or self-esteem.
Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Do things that make you happy and healthy.
Surround yourself with positive influences and affirmations.
How to Enhance Good Interactions
Finally, once you have avoided the bad interactions in your life, the last step is to enhance the good ones as much as possible.
This may sound obvious, but it can be easily overlooked in the hustle and bustle of life.
Here are some tips that might help you:
- Be attentive to your interactions
Don't take them for granted or ignore them.
Pay attention to what others are saying and doing.
Show interest and curiosity.
Ask questions and give feedback.
Listen actively and empathetically.
- Be appreciative of your interactions
Don't forget to thank others for their time and effort.
Express your gratitude and appreciation for their contribution to your life.
Compliment them on their qualities or achievements.
Celebrate their successes and support their challenges.
- Be generous with your interactions
Don't be stingy or selfish with them.
Share your thoughts and feelings with others.
Offer your help and advice when needed.
Give gifts or favors without expecting anything in return.
Surprise them with gestures or words of kindness.
- Be authentic with your interactions
Don't pretend or lie to them.
Be yourself and let others see the real you.
Share your strengths and weaknesses with them.
Be honest and trustworthy with them.
Be vulnerable and courageous with them.
The Definition of Peace
That begs another question: How do you define Peace?
Is it associated with a mass chunk of money in bank account or a large group of so-called friends?
However you define peace, is the basic principle for you to seek peace.
A close friend of mine always identified her peace with making huge amounts of money.
Another acquaintance of mine preferred living an aesthetic lifestyle.
I personally want to balance both of these parameters.
Ask yourself this: How do you want to define your peace?
It might take you some considerable effort to reach at the answer.
Maybe a few weeks.
That’s alright.
No need to put a rush on such a crucial answer that is going to navigate your life.
Sometimes one has to take time to reach a verdict.
The Steps to Achieve Peace
Once you have your definition of peace, the next step is to work towards achieving it.
This may sound easier than done, but trust me, it's not impossible.
Here are some tips that might help you along the way:
- Be honest with yourself and others. Don't pretend to be someone you're not or compromise your values for the sake of pleasing others.
- Set realistic and attainable goals. Don't overestimate your abilities or underestimate your challenges. Break down your big dreams into smaller steps and celebrate your progress.
- Learn to say no. Don't take on more than you can handle or agree to things that don't align with your peace. Respect your boundaries and expect others to do the same.
- Practice gratitude. Appreciate what you have and don't compare yourself to others. Recognize the positive aspects of your life and express your thanks to those who support you.
- Seek help when needed. Don't be afraid to ask for advice or assistance from others who can help you achieve your peace. Whether it's a friend, a family member, a therapist, or a coach, there's no shame in reaching out for support.
- Have fun. Don't forget to enjoy yourself and have some fun along the way. Find activities that make you happy and bring you joy. Laugh often and don't take yourself too seriously.
